💪 Specifically, we focus on term 1,2,3 & 4 study materials from the regions of Gauteng, Limpopo, Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, Kwazulu Natal, Mpumalanga, Free State, and North West Province.

The University of the Western Cape is well-known for its struggle against apartheid and its continued fight against oppression, discrimination and disadvantage in modern day South Africa. Among academic institutions it has been at the forefront of South Africa’s historic transformation, playing a leading and unique academic role in helping to build an equitable and dynamic nation. UWC‘s key concerns with access, equity and quality in higher education arise from extensive practical engagement in helping the historically marginalised participate fully in the South African society.
The University of the Western Cape is a national university, alert to its African and international context as it strives to be a place of quality, and a place to grow, from hope to action through knowledge. It is committed to excellence in teaching, learning and research, to nurturing the cultural diversity of South Africa, and to responding in critical and creative ways to the needs of a society in transition. Drawing on its proud experience in the liberation struggle, the University is aware of having a distinctive academic role in helping build an equitable and dynamic society.
Attuned to South Africa’s need to make the best use of its talent pool and to be globally competitive, UWC will be a vibrant intellectual space where people engage with matters of real significance at the highest levels of competence, and it will be widely recognised for this role.

University of Western Cape UWC Accommodation – See Details Below:

About a quarter of the students at UWC are in university residences. Many of the others stay at home, but private lodgings are required by a significant number. The Residential and Catering Services Office allocates and manages accommodation in university residences for about 3500 full-time UWC students.

All residences are furnished with basics such as bed, desk, chair and wardrobe.  sand have pleasant lounges and recreation facilities. Students are accommodated in comfortable single or double rooms with beds and desks.

Students who live more than 60 kms from the campus have first priority in the allocation of residence places.

Applicants for places (or for readmission to residence at the beginning of a new year) must be in good academic and financial standing and have a clean disciplinary record. Details of what these requirements mean are available on request.

If you are admitted to residence, you must bring your own bedding and towels. In addition, you may bring a kettle, mugs and items to decorate the room. Meals prepared by Food Services are available in five communal dinning halls. You are not oblige to use the dining halls as a resident student, and if you do you will be charged only for those meals you take. However, you may not cook in residence.

We would like to introduce you to our new online Residence Application Portal.

This has been a while in the making but with the latest software technology and some serious innovative techniques in collaboration with the Student Development & Support and the ICS departments it has come to fruition.
This is an exciting and new way that Residential Services has improved our online student interaction with regards to residence application.
This process has been simplified even more, for an easier application experience via either desktop computer / laptop or cellphone.
You can login with either of the following options.
1) Student Number
2) Passport Number
3) Application Number
4) Identity Number

Please make sure you have a valid UWC registered email address.

An OTP (One Time Pin) number will be sent to that email address in order for you to access the system and complete your application.

Once you have successfully logged in, your current student profile details will appear on the landing page. This will also include your current address information.

The system would then require you to upload a current proof of address in the formats requested.

If you have made an error it will allow you to remove the document and allow you to upload it again.

The terms and conditions need to be read and accepted with a tick in the check box provided.
You can then submit your application.

A place in residence is normally allocated for a year, excluding winter and summer vacations. Residences are closed during official university vacations. If there are academic reasons for staying on campus over a vacation, it is usually possible to arrange this, although it may be necessary for you to move to another residence for the vacation.
